"... oh my fucking god, REALLY??!" - were the first words I have articulated upon direct eye contact with the cover art of Leadsucker's "Burn". Then in the very next second I have realized that the Ohio based hardcore/punk ensemble just did to me what a hardcore/punk release worth calling one is supposed to do, at the first place. It did the politically ultra-anti-correct, the ultra-anti-establishmentarian and bitchslapped me with it, "JUST" to inquire how my soul and my overall cultural indoctrination feels about that.

What do you feel when an American flag - or ANY flag, for that matter - is burned in front of your very eyes? Do you realize that a flag necessarily is a non-physical symbol which ultimately can not be touched-, let alone eradicated by physical forces? Probably not. You are too politically correct for that. You are way too busy being fucking enraged when you witness your flag being burned, am I correct to suppose that? Then you make the Leadsucker guys a happy and efficient punk bunch! The record wants you to be enraged, or, at least, to point out the direction you could "safely" do that on - and it really pulls this feat off with a radical stunt of which you probably will have a strong opinion. Amen to that. Your opinion is overrated. You know why? Because it is yours. Now fight apathy or don't, then read on to know more about the music on the disc.

By Night - Sympathy For Tomorrow review

By Night's Sympathy For Tomorrow puts at least one reviewer into a pleasant position, because the music I personally found on the disc sounds to me as the epitome of well executed non-emo metalcore with a hardcore attitude kept intact throughout the way.

The characterology of the stimulus in my opinion consorts nicely to a blend between the music of recent day Biohazard without the "supportive nuclear radiation" - the beauty of music journalism - AND hefty-butt metalcore which shows exactly sub-zero interest in the teenager antics of salescurvecore and its themes revolving around breakup traumas, suicidal lamentations and the HORROR of seeing your neighbor seeing you seeing him with a rubber giraffe.

The By Night guys are doing an especially noteworthy job with their top of the heat guitar production work : everything they offer is clearly and precisely defined STUFF with full value sonic meat on it. Virtually no out-of-real-estate distortion is present enough to be bugged about it, and THAT is something to be tamely bugged about. The data emerges ripe, muscular without having to be bloated like a whale on war steroids as the latest Lamb of God. NO, I do not want to pick on that release, especially not after how I was kind of a douche with it, but notice this : Resolution is sooooo "senselessly massive" sounding at its most crowded places that the sheer weight sounds to overwhelm the actual details and intricacies actually being presented. It takes tremendous effort to actually make out and appreciate what is being played, some of the time. Reason I mention the premiere Pantera peers is my percept that By Night similarly wants to deliver you music with crystal clear thought behind it, but, giving its elements in equally crystal clear-, YET soberly limited fashion is top priority for this ensemble. This is a rare-, but always very pleasant approach to encounter and be graced by, as most bands will be content with soniccannoning you into your favorite submission for your money. Guys, let's talk about the music.

Biohazard - Reborn In Defiance review

This here latest to date Biohazard LP brings down ultraterror, fake UFOs and old school hellfire upon all who is looking for a blemish in its full musculature fabric. These guys have been around since ancient times as far as I know, and let me tell you that their game looks as intact and fresh as ever. Biohazard brings to you a type of music bordering on the shared field of venomous thrash metal and rebellious groove metal, but administers this kind of rabid sonic data with a proud finger given to recent day polishment-production wizardry. The album sounds like you'd expect a post apocalyptic band to sound when witnessing them on a stage set up on the back of a warproof truck. The sonic data is equally gritty and lush, always packing the instant charisma of a lit up barrel and a Molotov cocktail, and that what the idea is, I tend to think. Read on to find out more about this heavy duty release.


Biohazard is all about the primer elements I personally think are amidst the most important building blocks of hefty music that seeks to waste stuff to obtain great spiritual satisfaction. These guys have the capacity to deliver sets and sets of intricate musical hooks per song, and not for a moment, you are taken for a fool like on a Nickelprick LP, abusing family proof soft rock chord progressions. I'll tell you a joke : Nickelback. Now, back to this Biohazard LP. The stimulus of this album comes from the heart, and shows constant capacity to flatter the mere heft in music you most probably signed on for. This album does not disappoint, not for a second, in my opinion. An intact, aggressive sonic fabric is achieved by the sober production decisions, making the album sound honest and "real", eliminating all need to rely on the recent day stock studio sound your gecko loves to drop saliva above.

While the sound manages to strike you as something truly fresh and - paradoxically enough - timelessly old school, the Reborn In Defiance LP weighs in as super heavyweight, courtesy of the trusty musicianship and destructoid songwriting witnessable on these tracks. Tasteful variation never relents, and the band showcases an apt readiness to flatter luscious riffcraft without shame and without end, and this particular aspect is KEY, of why these guys ARE the Grandmasters of the genre, and not just decent runner ups of it. Whereas other bands would be content with the elements/sections per song they already have, you can be sure that Biozahard always will have one extra surprise/section for you, regardless of the momentary behavior and intensity the current track cultivates.

This album sounds to me as a vastly authentic and immense release, and here is why : this disc contains the exact kind of music I hoped to hear from Biohazard. They give on this LP what I was hoping to get from them, only, they shape the form of their very best music in the process. I'll be honest with you, I love this Biohazard album, and, as such, I gratefully deem it an immediate recommendation.
