Doggystyle Restyled - a Tribute to Snoop Dogg marks the 20th anniversary of the release date of the debut of renowned hip hop icon Snoop Dogg. The project is an ambitious asset in the catalog of Engineroom Recordings, a label and enterprise that - among other things - specializes in the insatiable deliverance of well executed tribute spins, dedicated to - you guessed right! - various artists. The album faithfully reflects the perennial structure so powerfully assembled by the tributed party with Snoop himself signifying the tip of the metaphoric spear since 20 years and counting, and the artists expressing their unconditional admiration towards this rap star is rendered through competent, even inventive takes on the tracks Snoop Dogg first established himself as a rhymespiller the era has to reckoned with ... with. Read on to know more about this.
The spin compliments the meticulous and careful production standards represented by Chris Hacker, while also showcasing the mastering talents of Nacor Zuluaga - a beneficial creative symbiosm that envelopes the tracks with certain elements of mutual interconnectedness, reflected primarily by an admirable agenda of beefing the tracks up to maximum volumetrics, without clipping into the Elysium fields of everyday average sub-wooffer abuse. The artists giving their love and name to the project - see their names and performances listed and rendered on the official site linked above and below, where you can check out the album and you can buy it, too - are guaranteed to give their very best, since no person would want to cultivate a grudge with "teh" Snoop Dogg while they happen to share a planet surface with him, so all participants made sure to leave the casual things called hearts and souls on the spin, because this is the minimum that is expected under such circumstances of optimum competition. I'm content with the disc, and find the variants of the original tracks rather soulfully and smartly constructed. It is like the computer game Brutal Doom : very true to the original, yet dares introducing changes and mild, nevertheless relevant embellishments that the original ingredients won't mind tolerating. Not much else to say, as the record is as eloquently straightforward, as your very next move should be : check the disc out, because Snoop Dogg knows where you live.
