I'm not THAT pro either, but happen to live with a producer and a sound engineer who runs a hobby solo project in a similiar vein as yours. Those guys have been my major source of inspiration and/or mere knowledge when it comes to recording/producing my own guitar tracks, for which i currently use aforementioned VST plugin.

So far, I've made it through the first half of page 1 of the tracks on your channel (of which I liked 'Bring the new flesh...' best) and what striked me most was the synthetic/artificial/soulless sound of the kicks and certain cymbals you decided to use.
Especially the kick's semiquavers and demisemiquavers/thirty-secod notes sound rather drum computer-esque. Not sure if that is something you've been striving to archieve, but considering the style, I doubt that is the case. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Depending on whether that is possible with the software you use or not, I'd recommend allocating different levels of hit intensity to single kick and/or cymbal notes. Additionally, you could try humanizing some sequences when the pace goes up, so the drum arrays don't sound as harsh or, well, inhuman anymore.

Wall-of-textish post and I'm sure I picked a wrong term here and there, but hopefully this was somewhat helpful.

Please write a review on the new Job For A Cowboy (and for the giggles, one on the new Emmure lol) next week, so I can die a happy man!The_True_Turricanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11229773545907022573noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1362584331118859609.post-69092776499223619382012-04-03T10:43:13.102-07:002012-04-03T10:43:13.102-07:00Aaaah, VSTi romantics. Listen to the snares in

"Bitchslap", for example
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bYRgkSJ_bfE

and notice that this is an entirely different snare than the one in

"Immune - The Rapture".
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZKcl29TRbHU

Selecting non-beneficiary volume to the drums might harm the overall experience, making them sound less optimal than they have the natural charisma to at full value. I'm not quite "teh" drum know-it-all right now, there are drum sounds and drum fills & feels and cymbals I'm still learning the basic functionalities of. Thank you for your feedback, glad you like the reviews.GyZhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00377347348312331089noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1362584331118859609.post-60592267118601791152012-04-03T09:57:36.270-07:002012-04-03T09:57:36.270-07:00I've really grown to appreciate your reviews.
